Negativity is Easy

It's always easy to be negative.  Cranky.  Frustrated.

Here is a recap of my last 12 hours.

Arrive home from baseball game.  Cat vomit on my couch.  And on the desk...all over my planner and my notebook with important notes from that day (TMI.  Yuck).  Dishes piled high on the sink.  Wake up to a baby who did not sleep long enough and is cranky.  I realize there are Ritz crackers from yesterday all over the floor and smudged all over a pillow and the end table.  Niiccee.  Then I find more cat vomit.  The phone rings.  It's the shop that is working on my car.  They found something else wrong and now we're at $1,100...oh wait, $1,200.  The dining room table is piled high with bills, ads, and my mom's Mother's Day present.  Three missed calls from a client because I didn't realize my cell was upstairs.  I put the baby down for a nap and come downstairs and look at house and I'm not sure where to even start.

Then I remembered that everyday is not easy.  This poem came to mind:

God hath not promised skies always blue
Flower strewn pathways, all our lives through;
God hath not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.
But God hath promised strength for the day,
Rest for the labour, light for the way,
Grace for the trials, help from above,
Unfailing kindness, undying love.
~Annie Johnson Flint
 So I'm not going to take the easy road today and be Debbie Downer.  I'm not going to focus on how that $1200 could have went towards a new car...or a vacation.  I am not going to let bitterness rain on my parade.  Sometimes the days seem so long  (and frustrating) but we'll look back at a week or even a month and say, "Where did it go?"  Usually when we look at the big picture we forget the financial stress, the fussy baby, or even...dare I say it, the cat vomit.
Now that I've given myself a pat on the back, and it's out there for the whole world to read...what are you struggling with today?  Anything I can pray with you about?
