May (almost June) update to my 2012 Resolutions

I forgot to update you in April.  I blame having a VERY new baby.  If you want to check out March's update go here!

Spiritual goals:  Unfortunately, it's been hard to find any quiet time.  When Olen was still waking frequently during the night I would read the Bible on my Droid.  Now that he is getting more consistent I have been trying to get up earlier...however little Jackson Isaiah keeps beating me to the punch.  Working.on.this.  I have made a list of all the books of the Bible and hung it on my fridge.  I'm working my way through the New Testament right now and will come back to the Old Testament once I have more quiet time.

Goals as a wife: Have 2 date nights with Brian per month....(hahahahaha)  In March we had one date.  This consisted of having my mom watch Jackson the day before I was induced with Olen.  We walked to Bags in Millersburg and had a sandwich. Haha.  We did get a date in April thanks to our very special friend, Betsy.  We went to eat and then to buy a mattress.  This sounds so old people-ish but I'd been asking for a mattress for over a year.  Happy wife, happy life. :)

Goals as a mother: I saw a sign in Berlin last week that said something to the affect of: A mother picks one thing- either a clean house or make-up.  This is so true!  Now that Olen is here I either end up in my sweats all day and do some things around the house, or I get a shower and dressed nicely.  But it seems that they never both happen. :)  Things are getting better now that Olen is sleeping 6+ hours in one go at night.  Right now I feel like the only discipling of Jackson is discipline.  He has been so naughty lately!  The pediatrician today said it is probably a little of a jealousy issue- he can't decide if he wants to grow up or be treated like a baby.  This makes sense to me!

Health/Physical-  I am just getting on the train with this.  I did survive childbirth but I have been lacking motivation to lose this last 15 pounds.  Made an appt for the Y tomorrow (they watch the kiddos so I have to do this)... and also have scheduled in 2 days next week.  I have to make this a priority!  July 1st may not happen, can I change to August 1st?!?!

Cleaning- I'm doing pretty well sticking to my weekly checklist and I've also cleaned out a bunch of stuff.  I was going through this spring cleaning craziness when Olen was about 4 weeks old- it was like- out with the old and in with the new!  I'm planning on having a garage sale in June to make some cash and force me to get rid of more things!

Professional goals- I decided I wasn't going to "push" my business and my sales are already 20% higher than last year.  I guess God had bigger plans in mind!

Financial goals-  We've changed up some of our ideas since the market is not treating us well.  Once we've got a few months under our belt I'll let you know how we are doing. :)

Books to Read: I read Radical and it totally changed my perspective on some things.  The American church.  The idea of missions.  If you are a Christian, you need to read this book.  Like yesterday.  Seriously.  I've also read Family UnplanningStart Your Family, and Erasing Hell.  4 books in 2 months puts me above my goal of 12 books total for the year!

Is anyone still sticking with their resolutions?  I think it's funny that I'm failing at most of the easier ones...and doing so well with my travel sales when I didn't plan to do anything.  What's that saying, "When man plans, God laughs."  How true!
